Scholarship Rules
The Society’s scholarships are awarded annually in November
To be eligible for the Scholarship Lottery, applicants must be a
resident of the U.S. and a son or daughter of a paid-up member for the
previous two years and the current year and is attending College,
private High School, or private Grammar School.
The winners are drawn by lottery at the Society’s General Meeting held
in May.
The number of Scholarship awards shall be:
Two (2) Private Elementary/Grammar School Awards ($500.00 each)
Two (2) Private High School Awards ($1,000 each)
Two (2) College Awards ($1,000 each)
And a (1) Scholarship Award in memory of Richard Reynolds and funded by the Society is granted to a Private Elementary/Grammar School Student ($500.00)
These awards shall be paid directly to the Private Elementary/Grammar School and the Private High School which the applicants are attending. The College Awards will be paid to the undergraduate student (s) attending a four (4) year accredited College upon presenting a satisfactory transcript at the end of the first marking period taking a minimum of 12 earned credits.
Any applicant who is tuition free or on full scholarship is ineligible for any of these awards.
Such applicant/parent/guardian shall complete, verify for accuracy and date the application form that shall contain information deemed necessary by the Committee.
Selection of the applicants for consideration for Scholarship shall be within the sole discretion of the County Leitrim Society Scholarship Fund Committee.
Applications for Scholarship Awards must be received by March 31st each year.
All applicants are eligible to apply each year in which the lottery is conducted, however, no applicant will be considered eligible for more than eight (8) years Elementary, four (4) years High School, four (4) years College. No applicant may receive an award two consecutive years in each category.
