Dear Member:
On behalf of the officers and members of the Society we wish you and your family a very happy and healthy New Year.
Thank you to everyone who attended our December meeting/Christmas Party in Cornyn’s Coach n’ Four, Yonkers. It was a very enjoyable evening. Compliments to Joe Cornyn and staff for the delicious food and for looking after us so well.
Thanks to all who supported the fundraising event for the McCartin School of Irish Dancing. It was very successful and congratulations to all involved. We look forward to having them be a part of our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
The first monthly meeting of 2008 will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 7:30 PM at The Ashling Irish Center, 990 McLean, Avenue, Yonkers. We encourage all members to attend this meeting. New members are always welcome.
Payment of dues for the 2008 year are being accepted and can be paid at this meeting or by mailing to the Financial Secretary at the P.O. Box address above. Dues are $10.00 per person.
The Installation of Officers for 2008/2009 will take place at Cornyn’s Coach n’ Four, Yonkers on Sunday, January 13th at 7:30 PM. Music by The Billy Keenan Band. For reservations please contact Anna Mulvey Buggy (718) 476-1268.

Frank Brady - President, Helen Lavin – 1st Vice President, Joseph McManus - 2nd Vice President, Aileen Kilcommons - Recording Secretary, Anna Mulvey Buggy - Corresponding Secretary, Margaret Taylor Finucane – Financial Secretary, Catherine Mitchell Miceli – Treasurer, Willie Reynolds – Sergeant at Arms, Trustees: Noeleen Bohan McGovern, Patrick Murray and Michael O’Rourke. Auditors: Tony Gormley, John Maguire and Donal O’Connell.
We welcome Frank Brady as President wishing him every success in his term of office, and look forward to his leadership and guidance.
The Society’s 113th Annual Dinner dance will take place on Saturday, March 15th, 2008 at 7:30 PM at the Astoria World Manor, Astoria, NY. Music will be provided by The Billy Keenan Band. This year’s Guest of Honor is Kevin Higgins, a Bayside, Queens resident but native of Tullaghan.
The Distinguished Service award recipient is Hilary Beirne, a native of Carrick-on-Shannon and a first cousin of the late Francis P. Beirne. He is a very active member of the Society and serves as Corresponding Secretary/Director of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Celebration Committee. A letter with complete dance information and journal contract forms will be mailed in the coming weeks.
The United Irish Counties Annual Dinner dance will be held on Friday, January 25th, 2008 at 8:00 PM at Antun’s, 96-43 Springfield Blvd., Queens Village. Guest of Honor is Terence M. O’Sullivan, General President of The Laborers International Union of North America. Distinguished Service Award is Sean McGovern. Contact Mary McMullen at (718) 833-8854.
A reminder that the Brooklyn Irish American Parade Committee will hold their Installation Dance on Saturday Feb 2, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Hall, 4th Avenue & 97th Street, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Grand Marshall Ray Nash, President Bishop Ford High School, UICA Aide to Grand Marshall is our own Joseph McManus from Drumshanbo. We congratulate Joe and would encourage your support. The Society wishes to extend sincere condolences to Frances O’Rourke and family, Bayside, on the sudden death of her son Barry, to the families of Tommy O’Riordan, Tony McGowan and Hubert Reynolds. May they all rest in peace.
Please pray for the sick members of our Society especially Pat Mahon, and Maggie 0”Rourke. We wish them a speedy recovery.
